Write your own obituary – either as if you died today or if you died later in life – old age (your choice).
Be sure to include your age and cause of death. List your lifetime accomplishments. Don’t forget to list your survivors.
What would you want to be remembered for if you died today as opposed to if you were 99 years old?
Is there a difference in your feelings of integrity versus despair as you contemplated the 2 obituary options?
Think about all the things you will have done that are not listed in your obituary. List some of them. Think of all the friends you will have made and how you will have affected them. Would you make any changes in your obituary?
Discussion assignment: 1) Share your obituary with your classmates. At the very least, share your reaction to contemplating these difficult questions. 2) Provide a thoughtful response to another classmates’ posting so that you’re asking questions or sharing ideas with each other.
