Please read these directions carefully so that you will understand this assignment.
Erik Erikson studied the development of personality over the course of the entire life span. Review Erikson’s stages of psychosocial development (Schultz & Schultz, 2017, pp.162-170) and construct your own chart, graph, or other visual that illustrates the stages, their respective conflicts, and a practical example of each stage. You will definitely need to read about Erikson’s theory in the text in order to give good examples and reflections.
**Important: Anyone can easily “copy and paste” one of Erikson’s charts from any online resource but remember that is plagiarism. Please do not plagiarize your work. Any work that is plagiarized will receive a zero. Be sure that your examples are original.
Think about your own personal development and how you relate to Erikson’s stages. For example, how did you develop during the “trust vs. mistrust” stage? Consider which factors may have influenced you during this stage. What events do you remember that influenced your development one way or the other?
When you get to a stage or an age that you have not yet experienced, then you may want to write about how a parent, grandparent, mentor or other person who is developing in this stage of life. You are welcome to choose a character example from a movie or television as long as you can appropriately describe the developmental stage according to Erikson’s model.
Don’t forget to list your references and use citations for your work.
Remember, this assignment is emphasizing your visual creation representation such as a standard chart like the example below, a graph, an info graph, or even a pie chart. Feel free to be creative and enjoy your work!

Hopefully these example will get you started and on your way!
This is an example of a chart:
|Stage||Erikson’s Psychosocial Crisis and the (Basic Virtue)||Age||Personal Example of Development at this Stage|
|1||Trust Vs. Mistrust
|2||Autonomy Vs Shame and Doubt
|1 ½- 3|
|4||Industry Vs. Inferiority
|5-12||Properly encouraged children should begin to build competency during this stage. Inferiority can also begin to be felt during this stage. Being a rather talkative child, I was often told that I “talked too much” by my parents and teachers, which lowered my self-esteem and confidence in my abilities to be a good student. Rather than becoming more industrious I feel that I left this stage feeling more inferior to peers.|
|5||Identity Vs. Role Confusion
|12-18||It was during this stage of my social development that I was more aware of social differences among peers. Due to my parent’s strict religious rules, I often felt that I should withdraw from school peers because I often dressed differently from those my age and was not allowed to engage in the same social activities as most of them. I do not think I successfully came through this stage with a strong sense of my identity as described by Erikson.|
|6||Intimacy Vs. Isolation
|7||Generativity Vs. Stagnation
|8||Ego Integrity Vs. Despair
